Hanoi, December 14, 2025 — Mr. David John Whitehead, Chairman of the Board of Mavin Group, attended the final presentations of MBA students from RMIT University as a judge.
The event was part of the annual “MBA Capstone Project – Business Consultancy” program, designed to connect MBA students with real businesses so they can apply academic knowledge to solve real management issues.
This year, to give students insight into one of Vietnam’s key high-tech agricultural sectors, RMIT cooperated with Mavin on a capstone topic aligned with the company’s sustainability direction. The project, proposed by Mavin’s chairman, focused on carbon reduction challenges for Mavin Group in the context of sustainability and energy management, in line with Vietnam’s commitment to reach net-zero emissions by 2050.
At a briefing session on November 15, students heard from an IFC expert (World Bank Group) about global climate trends and policy frameworks, followed by Mr. David’s presentation on Mavin’s closed-loop “Farm to Table” model and emissions control challenges across its value chain.
After four weeks of research and analysis, on December 14, five MBA student teams delivered strategic recommendations to support Mavin’s carbon reduction efforts. Suggested solutions included energy optimization, clean technology adoption, process improvement, and ESG measurement frameworks. Through their presentations, the teams demonstrated sharp thinking and deep insight into business and socioeconomic contexts.
As a judge, Mr. David provided direct feedback, questioning, and critique of each solution. With more than 20 years of experience leading sustainable development efforts, he praised the students’ balance between environmental goals, investment cost, and long-term benefits. He also shared practical lessons from Mavin’s own green initiatives, such as solar energy systems, circular economy farm models, sustainability-linked loans from HSBC, and recent international sustainability certifications.
The presentation event is part of Mavin’s strategy to connect business, academia, and young talent through practical training, career advising, and talent recruitment. Earlier in November 2025, Mr. David also spoke at the Career Fast Track Day forum at RMIT University, sharing Mavin’s development story, value chain model experiences, and insights into the competencies modern businesses expect from graduates.
Through this collaboration with RMIT, Mavin continues to affirm its commitment to investing in people and education, creating a real-world learning environment, and supporting the next generation in their career development journey — contributing to the sustainable agriculture sector in Vietnam.
