For the ninth consecutive year, Mavin Group and World Vision International in Vietnam have joined hands to implement a comprehensive livelihood support program across three mountainous districts of Thanh Hoa Province, creating life-changing opportunities for ethnic minority and disadvantaged households. More than simply providing livestock, the program delivers something even more valuable: hope, confidence, and the motivation for families to build a brighter future for themselves and their children.

BACKGROUND AND SIGNIFICANCE
In the remote mountainous communities of Nhu Xuan, Thuong Xuan, and Thach Thanh Districts in Thanh Hoa Province, where livelihoods largely depend on small-scale agriculture and economic opportunities remain limited, the duck farming livelihood program is creating new opportunities for local families to improve their living conditions.
Beyond providing ducklings, animal feed, veterinary supplies, and technical training, the program is helping transform mindsets—particularly among poor households and ethnic minority communities. It encourages people to move beyond accepting hardship toward actively building sustainable livelihoods, increasing household income, and achieving greater financial stability.
Practical results have demonstrated the program's effectiveness. Starting with small flocks of ducklings, many participating families have generated additional income, gained valuable livestock management skills, and established a foundation for expanding their production. Given the right opportunities and continuous support, families gain the confidence to overcome poverty and create a better future for themselves and their children.
In 2026, 120 households in the Nhu Xuan Area Programme each received 100 Mavin Cherry ducklings as part of the livelihood support initiative.
Since 2017, Mavin Group has partnered with World Vision International in Vietnam to support community development projects across the country. The year 2026 marks the ninth consecutive year of collaboration, with nearly 1,000 households benefiting from the livelihood support initiatives to date. This long-standing partnership reflects the shared commitment of both organizations to improving livelihoods and promoting sustainable development, particularly in disadvantaged communities.
On 25 June and 2 July 2026, Mavin and World Vision International in Vietnam distributed 12,000 and 8,000 ducklings, respectively, to disadvantaged households in Nhu Xuan and Thuong Xuan districts. A further 6,000 ducklings are scheduled to be distributed on 9 July to households in Thach Thanh District.

LIVELIHOOD SUPPORT ACTIVITIES
The program goes beyond simply providing livestock. Each participating household receives comprehensive support throughout the entire livelihood development journey, including:
- Hands-on duck farming training, combining both theoretical knowledge and practical field guidance.
- Assessment and consultation on improving household duck housing to suit local conditions.
- 100 Cherry Valley ducklings per household – a fast-growing meat duck breed well suited to the local climate.
- Animal feed and veterinary supplies provided until the ducklings reach 30 days of age.
- Continuous technical guidance and monitoring throughout the production cycle.
Upon completion of the program, Mavin will continue working with World Vision International in Vietnam to support participating households in restocking and expanding their duck farming operations, ensuring that livelihoods are not only established but also sustained over the long term.

LOOKING AHEAD
Entering the ninth year of collaboration, Mavin Group and World Vision International in Vietnam are doing more than implementing another livelihood support initiative. Together, they continue to strengthen a community development partnership that has proven both effective and scalable.
Through the program, both organizations expect the Cherry Valley duck farming model to continue delivering sustainable results across Thanh Hoa Province. Participating households will be better equipped with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to restock, expand production, and gradually improve their incomes.
In the longer term, the model is expected to provide a foundation for families to diversify into other livestock activities, creating more stable, resilient, and sustainable livelihoods.
