Mavin Delivers Ducklings to Support Livelihoods in Thanh Hoa

From May 22 to 29, 2025, Mavin Group, in collaboration with World Vision International in Vietnam, delivered more than 22,000 ducklings to disadvantaged households in three districts of Thanh Hoa province: Quan Hoa, Nhu Xuan, and Thuong Xuan.

This activity continues the livelihood support efforts under the 5-year Memorandum of Understanding (2025–2029) between Mavin and World Vision, with a total program budget of over VND 1.6 billion for 2025. It aims to help households develop chain-based livestock farming models, gradually improve income and stabilize their lives.

A total of 232 disadvantaged households received high-quality ducklings (80–100 per household), suitable for the local climate and conditions, contributing to the expansion of sustainable commercial duck farming. The ducklings were pre-brooded to 3 days of age by Mavin to help reduce mortality and improve productivity.

Integrated support in knowledge, supplies, and technique
Before receiving the ducklings, households participated in field surveys, training, and technical transfer sessions organized by Mavin and World Vision on biosecure duck farming. Topics included housing setup, brooding, stage-specific care, disease prevention, proper feed usage, and hygiene management—aiming to equip farmers with the knowledge needed to improve productivity.

In parallel, the program also provided feed, veterinary medicine, and farming supplies for the first 30 days, creating the best conditions for households to apply proper techniques. Throughout the farming process, Mavin’s technical staff will provide direct, on-site support, guiding households in growth monitoring, flock management, issue handling, and marketing solutions. This close coordination between equipment provision, technical guidance, and market support makes the Mavin–World Vision model distinctive.

The first duck flocks are expected to be sold in mid-July 2025, providing income to improve household livelihoods. Ten percent of the revenue will be contributed to a shared community fund to expand the model to more disadvantaged households in the area.

Supporting sustainable farming in challenging areas

The 2025 program builds on the successful implementation in Quan Hoa and Thuong Xuan districts in 2024. The earlier phase proved the effectiveness of this deep support model, which accompanies households from technical training to livestock delivery and product marketing. It not only helps reduce poverty but also encourages farmers to adopt a modern agricultural mindset and rely on their own capacity for development.
