Sustainable Livelihood helps Quan Hoa farmers escape poverty

On 06/06/2024, in Quan Hoa District, Thanh Hoa Province, Mavin Group, in collaboration with World Vision International, organized the donation of 8,000 ducklings, over 30 tons of duck feed, and veterinary medicine to 80 impoverished farming households in the area.

Each household was provided with 100 DOD along with feed and veterinary medicine, as well as farming materials. After 45-50 days of farming, with guidance and technical support from Mavin, households can sell the ducks, benefit from the farming results, and, most importantly, gain expertise in duck farming to improve their family income and achieve sustainable poverty alleviation.

Quan Hoa is one of the poorest mountainous districts in Thanh Hoa Province and the country, with 85% of the population engaged in agriculture. The hilly terrain, combined with natural disasters, makes the district's economy even more challenging, pushing residents into persistent poverty.

This is the reason why Mavin Group and World Vision International chose Quan Hoa as one of the two districts to support livelihoods, helping people generate income to escape poverty. The 80 beneficiary households in Nam Dong, Thien Phu, Phu Xuan, and Nam Tien communes are those classified as poor, ethnic minorities, and especially those with children and women in need of assistance.

Prior to this, Mavin's technical staff directly visited each village, met with households to provide duck farming training according to Mavin's strict procedures, conducted field surveys of some households, and advised on suitable farming conditions. Although the duck farming model within the value chain is still new to Quan Hoa residents, they enthusiastically participated, gaining confidence through the training and especially reassurance from Mavin and World Vision's commitment to accompany them throughout the farming process to achieve the best sales results.

This is part of the cooperation program between Mavin and World Vision to support disadvantaged areas in Vietnam. Specifically, in 2024, Mavin sponsors 20,000 Mavin Cherry breeding ducks, 76 tons of Austfeed 6101 and 6102 duck feed, along with veterinary medicine and supplies, comprehensive training, and technical consulting packages to help households in Thuong Xuan and Quan Hoa districts master duck farming and achieve sustainable poverty alleviation. The total value of the sponsorship program in Thanh Hoa in 2024 is nearly 1.5 billion VND.
