Mavin collaborate with Hungary on high-quality common carp seed development
On 9th April 2019, in Hanoi – Mavin Group signed MOUs with Research Institutes and Businesses from Hungary on the development of high-quality common carp seed.
Mavin signed MOU with Vitafort Agro Asia Zrt. According to the agreement, 2 parties will collaborate on the eestablishment of a regional fish breeding centre for the quality seed supply of common carp and other commercially important fish species in the region. Besides, the collaboration also covers development of sustainable fish production systems with special regards to the combined intensive extensive (CIE) systems and Fish feed manufacturing and the development of fish feed formula and feeding technologies.
Mavin, VAA also signed a multi-lateral MOU with Research Institute for Fisheries of Hungary (HAKI) and Aquaculture of the National Agriculture Research and Innovation Center and Research Institute for Aquaculture No.1 (RIA1) to enhance R&D and approach business opportunities in the region. According to the MOU, HAKI and RIA1 are mainly responsible for genetic improvement of common carp through expert consultancies and training; development of brood stock management, hatching-, larvae and fingerling rearing- technologies; organization of professional meetings and workshops; assist the extension work and training for farmers. Mavin and VAA are mainly responsible for operating the carp breeding center; organizing the supply and transportation of larvae and fingerling to buyers and exploring new collaboration and business opportunities in the region.
Breeding and genetic improvement of common carp is a traditional cooperation area between HAKI and RIA1 since the 1960’s. The cooperation has contributed to the increased efficiency of the common carp production and the improvement of quality of the produced fish in both countries. Both Mavin and VAA have strength in the supply chain of “From Farm to Table” in fishery, link tightly in term of R&D with science organizations, institutes and prestigious Universities in Vietnam. Especially, VAA has been active in South East Asia in the past ten years and currently is managing a Hungarian tied aid loan program in Laos that has a relatively large aquaculture component.
Common carp is a commercially important fish species in Vietnam and also in various countries in Asia. Participation of Institutes and Enterprises will generate a boost to the industry of common carp production, contribute to food security and food safety and also to the responsible use of freshwater aquatic resources and to minimize the impacts of climate change.
