After 12 months of construction, the last work of Binh Dinh plant at Nhon Hoi B industrial zone, Binh Dinh city, Binh Dinh province has finished and gone in operation.
Austfeed Binh Dinh plant is an investment project of Austfeed Binh Dinh Limited Company as the member of Austfeed. This is the first investment project in the expanding strategy to the South and the Central Highlands. The project that was implemented in the area of 33,000 m2 in Nhon Hoi B industrial zone, Quy Nhon city, with the production’s capacity of 200,000 tons per year and the total investment capital of 150 billion VND, was officially started on October 12, 2009, and would be officially put into operation on December 16, 2010.
The Central and the West Highlands are extremely potential regions for livestock markets, which accounts for large amount of swine and poultry over the total national amount. Moreover, this region also provides a wide range of materials such as corn, cassava, fish meal for the livestock’s feed production.
However, after a lot of research, the company has launched many initiatives to save energy and save production costs. By applying only 4 simple methods including: Improving the lighting system, removing and replacing the motor with speed control, controlling quality strictly, no pre-processing, recycling products, it has helped the company to save over 3 billion VND each year. Currently, company leaders were still combining with technical experts to continue to looking for new efficient ways to save energy.
The process of livestock’s feed production contains 4 main stages including Grinding, Mixing, Pelleting and Cooling. Each of these steps consumes different power usage due to differences in motor capacities in which raw material grinding consumes the most energy. By the selection process of highly pure raw material, removing impurities that cause difficulties for grinding process and effective material refilling, the company has saved a lot of energy costs for this stage.
In addition, effective electric devices arranging and issuing the saving regulations to all of staffs are also the main contribution to the power saving project. Beside the technical measures applied through the advice of energy experts, the company itself has a lot of initiatives to save energy without investment costs such as using natural light in the production facility by building almost transparent roof, light enhancement by upgrading the existing lighting system with reflective mirrors. According to data from PESME project, estimated aggregate energy efficiency measures implemented in Austfeed, has reduced emissions of over 200 tons of CO2 per year into the environment.
